Palm Beach County- The Palm Beach Pumas scored their biggest victory over 3 years ago when they landed Adam Parker from Rochester, New York. Adam has become a key figure in the recent success of the Pumas.

Parker came down with a group of college teammates from Fredonia State in New York during their 2003 spring break to tryout with the Pumas PDL program. Parker made it very clear he was not seeking to play at the next level but to raise his own game while he was still young to help his coaching career.

 

Adam was a graduate assistant at Fredonia State University under Head Coach P.J. Gondek, where he received his Master’s Degree in Sports Management. After returning to the Pumas for a second year in 2004 he began to put his education to use by working with Pumas Coach and Director Bobby Lennon. Adam began to learn all aspects of the business side of the program. At the time Bobby Lennon was finalizing the 2004-05 College Prep roster and program activities.  Parker began learning the operations of the program and the details it takes to create success.  Lennon envisioned a youth outreach program in the academy.  Adam was a part of the initial meetings and organization to help make the vision a reality.

Parker committed to work with the Pumas full-time in January 2005 after the Pumas signed a contract with PrimeTime, PBC, Inc. to conduct soccer clinics throughout Palm Beach County to economically disadvantaged children. Adam was quickly assigned to the important task of Youth Outreach Coordinator.  The program operated at 14 after school programs in the spring of 2005 and expanded to 28 locations with over 2800 children for that summer’s day camp programs.  The program is up to over 30 locations this summer and 3000 children.  His major tasks include scheduling and training coaches, supplying equipment and working along side PrimeTime PBC, Inc. to coordinate the programs. 

 

Parker has also contributed to the advancement of college prep program.  He has helped Coach Lennon recruit and develop players from all over the east coast as an assistant coach/player with the team.  The Pumas have what they believe is their best class of students entering the program this August and the communication that Parker has had with the recruits played a major part in that. 

 

 

Adam has been captain of the Pumas PDL Team for the past 3 years. This year the team is in position to compete for the Division Title and advance to the National Playoffs. Parker has matured as a veteran defender who anchors younger players around him minimizing mistakes. He plays disciplined soccer and has natural leadership abilities that have followed him after his college career to a higher level of the game.

His unselfish sacrifice and his attention to detail helped lay an important foundation over the past two years. I know I will have done a good job when Adam Parker is successful as a head coach within our youth and senior programs.”

 

The Pumas leadership envisions a women’s program (USL W-League), USL Super 20 League Teams (National U20 Leagues for Men and Women), USL Super Y League (National Youth League) and a Men’s professional franchise in the future.
