Pumas Drop 2 Tough Road Games
Poor Judgment Creates 3 Goals for Opponents

Pumas lose in the last 5 minutes to Atlanta

Atlanta (Thursday June 1)- The Palm Beach Pumas lost 1-0 to the Atlanta Silverbacks last Thursday giving away a goal with 5 minutes left in the match. The Pumas failed to finish on 3 excellent opportunities in the first 20 minutes of the game. Felipe Sousa hit the post at the 11:00 minute mark. Both Ben Ward (Jupiter) and Milos Bajic hit shots that just went wide.  Coach Bobby Lennon said, “The mistakes we make cost games which can ruin the season. At this level it is up to the individual player to be mentally prepared to compete and not make these critical errors.”

Pumas Second Half Push is not enough in Augusta

Augusta (Saturday June 3)- The Palm Beach Pumas were beaten 3-1 by the Augusta Fireball on Saturday.  Augusta was sharp building the ball out of the back. They’re precise timing on attack amount of possession had the Pumas frustrated early.

The result was an early goal for Augusta off of a corner kick that was finished in the 6 yard box.  The Pumas frustrations continued when they were dropped to 10 men after a red card (two footed tackle) by one of their leaders, Joey McGuire.  Shortly before half time a Pumas turnover in the midfield in their own half from a dangerous square ball gave away another goal.

At half-time the Pumas players gained their composure and played a very good second half but gave away another goal on a square pass on top of the 18 which was finished by the league’s leading scorer Freddie Moojen.

The Pumas possessed the ball most of the second half and salvaged a goal on a header from Stephen Hogan.  Augusta sat in with extra players behind the ball to protect their 3-1 lead shortly after to preserve the win.  The Pumas dropped to second place in the Southeast Division with 3-3 record.  Coach Bobby Lennon said after the game, “Augusta is the best team we have played to this point in the season. Our second half effort is something to build off. If we did not give away the ball twice in dangerous areas then this would have been a draw. If we stop the mistakes that give away goals we will be a playoff team.”
