Pumas Earn Third Win of the Season
2-1 Victory Over Raleigh Elite Keeps the Pumas in First Place

Felipe Sousa Finds the Back of the Net Against Raleigh

Wellington- The Palm Beach Pumas defeated the Raleigh Elite 2-1 at Village Park on Saturday.  After a scoreless first half Raleigh’s Spencer Wadsworth scored in the 49th minute off a counter attack from a Pumas miscue.  The Pumas attack was relentless after Raleigh scored. Three minutes later, Pumas left midfielder, Pavel Cancura crashed the box to score off a header crossed by Felipe Sousa. The Pumas were continued to dominate play and found the net again when Forward Milos Bajic attacked the right side finding Felipe Sousa on the other end of his cross with what would be the game winning goal.

The game was delayed for 2 hours with only 15 minutes left in the match due to lightning. The game resumed at 10:15 pm. Both teams had opportunities in the last minutes but the Pumas spirit and determination proved to much for Raleigh to beat.

The Pumas midfield had good production from Stephen Hogan and Joey McIntyre controlling the center of the park while the flanks were dominated by Ian Bennett and Pavel Cancura.

The Pumas have 3 wins and 1 loss (9 points) and are in First Place in the Southeastern Division and Fourth Place in the Southern Conference behind Carolina Dynamo 12 points, Laredo Heat (Texas) 12 pts., and the Augusta Fireball 10pts. The Pumas next home game is June 10th at 7PM at Wellington High School.  Admission is free to the public.
